Details:
Design roof trusses for commercial buildings
including schools, hotels, condominiums, university residence halls and academic
buildings, retail buildings, etc. Design floor trusses for hotels, multi-family
residential, condominiums, etc. Produce accurate and clear shop drawings for
submittal and approval. Produce accurate and clear installation drawings
for field use. Collaborate with design professionals to help
them determine the best possible solutions for their projects. Provide technical assistance to customers,
building designers, framers and truss installers during all phases of the
project. Attend job site meeting as needed either in
person or virtually. Attend BIM coordination meetings (virtual) and
have a good understanding of how other trades interact with trusses and other
building components. Work with customers and engineers to repair
damaged trusses. Prepare truss designs and material lists for use
in the shop for truss fabrication.
Provide material takeoffs for building
components to supplement the trusses (clips, bracing, bent plate etc).
College degree preferred but not required
depending on skills and experience.
Minimum 7 years of experience in designing CFS floor
and roof trusses. Proficient with Alpine TrusSteel design
software. Proficient with Autocad. Be able to read and fully understand
Architectural, Structural and Mechanical drawings. Be able to read and understand cold-formed steel
and structural steel shop drawings as well as shop drawings for other trades. Understand building codes and how they apply to
structural components. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Understand building design concepts. Must have good math skills including geometry,
fractions, trigonometry and algebra. Be able to calculate loading and reactions and
apply them accurately to trusses and other framing members. Have a good understanding of general cold-formed
steel framing concepts. Must be able to work on several large complex
projects at the same time and be able to meet deadlines without compromising
levels of service and quality.
