Technical Outside Sales – Truss and Building Components

This position offers an exceptional opportunity to join a well-established building materials supplier launching a new truss manufacturing division. The Technical Outside Sales professional will work with builders, contractors, and developers to expand market presence and strengthen relationships in residential, multifamily, and light commercial markets.

Responsibilities include developing new accounts, maintaining existing relationships, and coordinating internally to ensure accurate and efficient project execution. The ideal candidate has experience with truss or component sales, understands MiTek or similar software for estimating and takeoffs, and enjoys collaborating with a skilled operations and design team.

Compensation includes base salary, commission, and an initial guaranteed income during the startup phase. Benefits include health, dental, vision, disability, and retirement plan participation. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

About Our Client
A long standing lumber, building materials, and hardware supplier serving the public, builders, and general contractors in their county and surrounding areas. They recently hired a Truss Industry Professional to launch a new truss plant. The facility is nearing its completion, with capacity to produce more than 10 million dollars annually. The Truss Division Manager is a seasoned professional I have known for nearly 15 years, and he is building a like minded team.

Markets
Tract, Single Family, Single Family Custom, Single Family High End, Multi Family, Light Commercial, Ag, Pole Buildings.

Products
Roof and Floor Trusses. EWP. I Joists. Hardware. Total Framing Package, and other building materials.

Role Summary
Work with established customers to identify truss sales opportunities. Prospect new customers for truss and related materials sales. Use MiTek to create initial design, takeoffs, and estimates. Design role will diminish as sales volume increases. Coordinate with internal teams to deliver complete, accurate projects through sign off. Develop SOP's, sales plan, and the Master File.

Skills Required
Product knowledge. Market understanding. Performs well under pressure. Willing to follow directions. Team player. Self starter. Clear written and phone communication. Blueprint reading. General computer skills, word processing, spreadsheet, data entry.

Experience
Five years industry experience. Two to three years in a similar position. Will consider a move up if qualified.

Education
GED. High school graduate. Related trade school certificate. Two year degree. Will consider work experience in lieu of degree.

Work Schedule
Monday through Friday. Average 40 to 45 hours per week. You will primarily work form home and on the road, while also attending meetings and other in office events as required. You must live in or near the market area.

Compensation
Salary, exempt. Plus commission. Plus expenses. Base compensation from $60,000 dollars and up, depending on experience. Total compensation in the $80,000 to $100,000 dollars range and up, based on experience and performance. Initial compensation guarantee during the startup period.
