A well-established component manufacturer serving the Southern California market is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Truss Designer to join their team.

This role is dedicated exclusively to truss design, allowing for deeper technical focus without wall panel design responsibilities.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for the design, layout, and optimization of roof and floor truss systems, supporting residential and multifamily construction projects.
You will work closely with internal teams to produce accurate, code-compliant truss designs and placement layouts that move efficiently from engineering through production and field installation.
Key Responsibilities

Design roof and floor truss systems from architectural and structural plans

Create truss layouts, individual truss designs, and sealed placement diagrams

Analyze and apply loading conditions including snow, wind, seismic, and live/dead loads
-
Ensure all designs meet applicable building codes and engineering standards

Optimize truss configurations for material efficiency, cost control, and manufacturing feasibility
-
Review bearing conditions, load paths, and connection details for structural accuracy
-
Coordinate girder truss designs, multi-ply conditions, and complex loading scenarios

Work closely with production teams to ensure designs translate efficiently to manufacturing
-
Collaborate with sales and customers to resolve design challenges and value-engineer solutions

Revise and update designs based on internal QA review and field feedback
Requirements

3+ years of truss design experience

Proficiency in MiTek preferred (Alpine or equivalent considered)

Strong understanding of structural loading, truss behavior, and load distribution

Experience with roof systems, floor systems, and complex framing conditions

Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans

Knowledge of building codes and engineering requirements related to truss design

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills

Self-directed and effective in a remote work environment
