Details:
This is a high-impact role for someone who understands the truss industry from the inside and wants to move into a technical sales and support position. Our client is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer who can work directly with component manufacturers to support software, equipment, and overall plant workflow.
This is not a transactional sales role. It requires a strong technical foundation, the ability to understand how a plant operates from start to finish, and the communication skills to support customers through implementation, training, and ongoing optimization.
The right individual will be equally comfortable discussing design flow, production challenges, and business needs with owners, managers, and design teams.
What You Will Be Doing:
-
Support customers with implementation of design software, systems, and related technologies
-
Work closely with component manufacturers to understand and improve plant workflow
-
Provide technical sales support, including demonstrations, onboarding, and training
-
Assist with integration of software and equipment within truss manufacturing operations
-
Troubleshoot issues related to design, production flow, and system performance
-
Collaborate with internal teams to align customer needs with solutions
-
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts
-
Travel to customer locations as needed to support projects and training
- Extensive travel between October and March, with limited travel the rest of the year.
What We Are Looking For:
-
5+ years of experience in truss design, manufacturing, or related component operations
-
Strong understanding of the full workflow, from sales and estimating through design, production, and jobsite
-
Experience with truss design software such as MiTek, Alpine, Simpson, or similar
-
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
-
Experience in customer-facing roles, training, or support is a strong plus
-
Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently
-
Willingness to travel regionally as needed
Compensation & Benefits:
-
Base salary plus performance-based incentives, typically targeting $90,000 – $120,000+
-
Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans
-
Opportunity to grow within a technology-driven and customer-focused organization
Why This Role:
This position is ideal for someone who knows how a truss plant operates and wants to step into a broader role that impacts multiple operations. You will help customers improve efficiency, implement better systems, and get more out of their people, software, and equipment.
If you enjoy solving problems, working with people, and being involved in the bigger picture of how operations run, this is a natural next step.
