A highly respected building components manufacturer supporting the Northeast market is seeking an experienced Truss Designer to join their remote design team.

Position Summary
The Truss Designer will be responsible for designing roof and floor truss systems for residential, multifamily, and light commercial projects throughout the Northeast region.
The role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to produce designs that move efficiently from engineering through manufacturing and installation.
Primary Responsibilities

Design roof and floor truss systems using architectural and structural drawings

Prepare truss layouts, individual truss designs, and placement documentation

Apply loading criteria including snow, wind, dead, live, and lateral loading conditions

Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, engineering requirements, and company standards

Optimize truss configurations for production efficiency and material utilization

Review bearing locations, load transfers, and framing conditions for constructability

Coordinate complex truss conditions including girders, multi-ply assemblies, and high-load applications
-
Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to support production flow

Assist with design revisions, field questions, and customer-driven adjustments

Support internal quality control procedures and continuous design improvement efforts
Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of truss design experience

MiTek experience preferred; Alpine or related truss software considered

Strong understanding of structural loading and truss behavior

Experience designing both roof and floor systems

Ability to interpret architectural and structural plans accurately

Knowledge of residential and multifamily framing practices

Strong communication and organizational skills

Able to work independently in a remote environment while remaining responsive to the team

Compensation range: $30-45 per hour plus overtime opportunities - DOE.
