Our client is an established leader in the Engineered Wood Products (EWP) sector, focusing on I-joists and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL). They are seeking a Technical Support Engineer to ensure the quality of engineering activities across multiple provinces. This is an exceptional opportunity for a rigorously detailed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) to manage complex technical situations, develop innovative engineering tools tailored to the Canadian market, and ensure top-tier regulatory compliance within a dynamic, people-centered culture. Responsibilities: Review and seal engineering calculations and installation drawings prepared by regional distributors, ensuring compliance with building codes. Deliver technical guidance and product expertise to customers, distributors, and designers. Ensure regulatory compliance by managing required provincial certificates of authorization and permits to practice. Develop technical solutions and provide repair details for Engineered Wood Products (EWP), specifically I-joists and LVL. Resolve on-site construction issues and conduct periodic site visits to ensure product quality and compliance. Guide, mentor, and support the continuous technical development of the internal team. Create, optimize, and maintain technical documentation, engineering tools, and test plans. Prepare and deliver technical presentations to industry professionals and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, or Construction Engineering. Active Professional Engineer license (P.Eng.) in either Ontario or Quebec, with eligibility to obtain licensure in other Canadian provinces. 3 to 6 years of relevant experience desired, ideally within the Engineered Wood Products (EWP) industry (with a strong emphasis on I-joist and LVL applications) or the broader construction sector. Essential fluency in both French and English (written and spoken). High proficiency with calculation tools (especially Microsoft Excel), CAD, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. Knowledge of Python or similar programming languages is a strong asset. Proven experience interpreting and applying complex building codes and engineering design standards.
