Well-established, family-owned building materials company is seeking an experienced Design Lead to help lead the continued growth of its Building Components Division. In business since 1951, the company is investing in a brand-new truss manufacturing facility scheduled to begin production in the first quarter of 2027. They are currently hiring to allow time to complete software integration, and developing procedures and standards to manage the design department before production begins.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in launching and growing the new truss operation and helping the company to develop standards and procedures with regards to design.
The Design Lead will be responsible for all roof truss design activities while providing leadership and technical support to a junior designer responsible for wall panels and floor trusses. This individual will work closely with sales, production, and management to ensure accurate, efficient, and profitable component manufacturing.
Responsibilities include roof truss design, design review, quality control, production support, customer technical assistance, mentoring design staff, establishing design standards, and helping develop efficient workflows as the new operation expands.
Qualified candidates should have extensive roof truss design experience, a solid understanding of wood component manufacturing, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with production personnel, sales staff, builders, and customers. Previous leadership or mentoring experience is preferred. Wall panel design experience is a major plus.
Current product mix consists of approximately 80% single-family production/tract construction and 20% custom residential projects.
